Types of Surfactants

1. Anionic Surfactant

Such active agents are more common in linear alkyl benzene sulfonate and sodium α-alkenyl sulfonate. Linear alkyl benzene sulfonate, also known as LAS or ABS, is a white or light yellow powder or flake solid, soluble in water. Although it has poor water solubility at lower temperatures, and its solubility in water at room temperature is below 3, it has excellent solubility in compound surfactant systems.

2. High-grade fatty alcohol sulfate

It has strong emulsification, and is relatively stable, resistant to acid and calcium and magnesium salts. In pharmacy, it can accumulate with some polymer cationic drugs, which has a certain influence on the mucosa. It is used as an emulsifier for topical ointments, and also used to moisturize or solubilize solid preparations such as tablets. When the lotion cream is applied to the skin, these micelles will break (breaking the emulsion) and release the oil particles wrapped in it. These oil particles will form a thin oil film on the surface of the skin to maintain the moisture in the skin from being lost, and of course the active ingredients in it will also be absorbed by the skin.

3. Sulfonates

Synthetic detergent is one of the scenarios where surfactants are expensive. Products include washing powder, liquid detergent, dishwashing detergent and various household cleaning products and self-maintenance products such as: shampoo, conditioner, hair cream, hair gel, moisturizing lotion, toner, facial cleanser. Industrial surfactants are the sum of surfactants used in various industrial fields other than civil surfactants. Its application areas include textile industry, metal industry, painting, oil paint, pigment industry, food industry, paper industry, plastic resin industry, leather industry, petroleum excavation, building materials industry, mining industry, energy industry.

4. Nonionic surfactants

Nonionic surfactants are second only to anionic surfactants in quantity, and they are an important type with many applications. With the development of the petroleum industry, the cost of ethylene oxide used as the raw material continues to decrease, and its output value will continue to increase.
